Issue Summary:

Some 1994-95 Isuzu Troopers with the 4L30-E may exhibit code 37, which will cause limp mode.

A 1995-97 Volkswagen/Audi with an O1M neutralizes either during an upshift into 4th gear or while operating in 4th gear.

After overhaul, 2001-and-up Ford vehicles equipped with the 4R70W, 4R70E or 4R75E may exhibit a 2-3 neutral upshift.

Issue Summary:

After overhaul of a 4T65-E, the vehicle does not move after remaining stationary for a prolonged period.

After transmission exchange or valve-body replacement in a vehicle with a 4T40/45-E, the TCM stores code P1810 for the transmission-fluid pressure-switch assembly immediately after engine start-up.

Certain Dodge/Jeep trucks with 45RFE/545RFE transmissions may exhibit a complaint of a harsh 2-3 upshift accompanied by a clunk or shudder when accelerating, or a harsh 4-5 upshift or 5-4 downshift.

Some 1999 Ford F-Series Super Duty vehicles with the 4R100 transmission and 7.3-liter diesel may exhibit what appears to be a flare-up on either the 2-3 or 3-4 upshift.

Issue Summary:

In Dodge trucks & vans with RE rear-wheel-drive units, the transmission shuttle-shifts, and governor pressure and governor-pressure-sensor voltage are erratic.

Electronic noise on the TPS-signal wire is the most-likely cause of RE RWD transmissions cycling in and out of lockup.

In 1990-93 Honda Accords equipped with an “S” or “Sport” light, the light stays on all the time. In other vehicles the “D4” light remains on.

Broken pump gears and/or a severely damaged pump assembly may result in no movement in Dodge, Chrysler, Hyundai & Mitsubishi vehicles with F4A41/42/51-series transaxles.

Issue Summary:

At the start of production for the 1997 model year the input shaft has been redesigned in the area of the O-ring groove at the torque-converter end.

After overhaul, vehicles equipped with the MP6 or MP7 transaxle may exhibit a complaint of falling out of Drive at a stop or a slipping condition on takeoff.

Before or after overhaul, vehicles equipped with the MP6 or MP7 transaxle may exhibit a slight engagement delay in “D” and/or a binding condition in reverse.

Before or after overhaul, vehicles equipped with the MP6 or MP7 transaxle may exhibit delayed or no reverse when hot.

1996-and-up vehicles equipped with the TAAT transaxle may exhibit harsh upshifts and/or down-shifts and may have diagnostic trouble code P0746 or P0789.

March 2006 Issue

Issue Summary:

A 1996 or later Dodge or Jeep truck using an RE-series RWD transmission behind a gasoline engine can exhibit a chronic code P1763 – “governor pressure sensor volts too high” – causing the PCM to place the transmission into third-gear failsafe.

Shift-solenoid, band-apply and ground-circuit-relay codes are stored in 1990-93 Isuzu Trooper and Rodeo. Shift-solenoid, band-apply and shorted-to-ground or shorted-to-power codes are stored in 1994-95 Isuzu Trooper, Rodeo and Honda Passport, resulting in limp mode.

Failure of the E-clutch piston in ZF 5HP24 (A5S 440Z) transmissions can cause flared 1-2 and 2-3 shifts.

ZF Industries now offers a valve-body reconditioning kit for the ZF 5HP24.

November 2005 Issue

Issue Summary:

Beginning at the start of production for the 1999 model year, the planetary pinions on both carriers in THM 4L80-E transmissions were produced 10%thicker than those in previous models.

In a 1999 Chevy truck with a 6.5-liter diesel engine and 4L80-E transmission, the optical/fuel-temperature sensor was responsible for a complaint of 2-3/3-2 and 3-4/4-3 shift shuttles at cruising speed with 25%or greater throttle opening.
