Transmission shops are preparing to work on hybrids and EVs

At the beginning of the year, TD polled the industry on a variety of questions related to the transmission work they do. You can see the full results in our State of the Industry report from March. Usually, we ask the same general set of questions each yet in order to get a sense of the transmission repair market. But one question was different this year: does your shop plan on working on hybrids or electric vehicles in the near future?

It’s a thorny question for transmission shops, who aren’t sure what the industry might look like in a potential EV-focused future. Thus, 37% percent of respondents said they don’t know. But the number who said yes (36%) well outpace those who said no (27%). We may not be sure what it will look like, but shops are preparing for the future.

TD is preparing to cover this future too, as EVs look to take a bigger foothold in the market. After all, repair won’t go away; it will just look different. Keep up with our EV Bizz section on the website for our coverage of this topic.
