Summary:

Some 2004-up Mitsubishi vehicles with the F4A40/50 or F5A50 series transaxles may exhibit a harsh upshift into third gear and/or harsh downshifts after overhaul.

Different car manufacturers using the 09A (JA5A-EL, JF506E) use different names for the same solenoids, creating confusion in diagnosis of solenoid codes.

A 4L30-E in an Isuzu Trooper or Rodeo is stuck in first gear, and the TCM is giving the shift-solenoid command for first gear only.

Issue Summary:

After overhaul, Ford and Mazda vehicles equipped with the 4F27E/FN4A-EL transaxle may exhibit a delayed engagement or a low-pressure condition.

Before or after overhaul, a Ford vehicle equipped with the 4F27E transaxle may exhibit a complaint of a sliding or flared 2-3 upshift.

A 2005-2006 Dodge truck or Jeep with a 42RLE has a lack of power when backing up an incline while loaded or pulling a trailer.

A new governor-solenoid conversion kit is available for the RE-series transmission to improve reliability and performance.

Issue Summary:

Incorrect interchange of pump covers and input shafts in 1997-2006 GM vehicles with 4L60/65/70-E transmissions can cause a variety of problems.

GM vehicles equipped with the 6L80 transmission may exhibit a complaint of a slip on takeoff in the forward ranges, typically in first gear, and code P2723 or P2728 may be present.

On Freightliner/Dodge Sprinter vans with roof-mounted electric ventilation fans, the transmission may go into limp mode when the fans turn on.

Issue Summary:

After overhaul or transmission exchange, Ford Motor Co. vehicles equipped with the 4R70W/4R70E/4R75E transmission may exhibit either no speedometer reading or a slow speedometer read-ing (below).

A Ford/Lincoln vehicle equipped with the 5R55W/S transmission may have no fill plug (page 3).

In 1996 and later Dodge/Chrysler vehicles with 41TE/42LE transmissions, a malfunctioning ignition switch may cause all the PRND3L lights to be illumi-nated in Park and Neutral (page 4).

Installation of a 4T60-E stator-support shaft in a 4T65-E will prevent TCC application (page 7).

February 2010 Issue

Issue Summary:

A Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep vehicle with a 45RFE transmission may exhibit a harsh torque-converter clutch application, or the engine may stall or stumble on a garage shift into Reverse or Drive (below).

Some Daimler/Chrysler vehicles equipped with the NAG1, 42RLE or CVT have no transmission dipstick for checking oil level (page 3).

After overhaul, a Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep vehicle with a 45RFE transmission may exhibit a complaint of no movement (page 4).

A 2003 Jeep Liberty with a 3.7-liter engine and 42RLE transmission developed an engine vibration after engine replacement (page 6).

January 2010 Issue

Issue Summary:

A 1999 Mercury Sable with a 3.0-liter engine and AX4N transmission has codes P0708 and P1702 stored and has shift-scheduling problems.

VW and Audi vehicles equipped with the 01M, 01N or 01P transaxles may exhibit a flare on the 3-4 upshift or a quick spin-up during the shift.

December 2009 Issue

Issue Summary:

The Toyota U240-E has numerous sleeves that are prone to wear, which can result in premature transmission failure (below).

Toyota vehicles equipped with U150-series five-speed transaxles may exhibit slipping upshifts and/or premature transmission failure (page 7).

November 2009 Issue

Issue Summary:

VW and Audi vehicles equipped with 01M, 01N or 01P transaxles may exhibit a partial or full engine stall during engagement into Drive or Reverse (below).

VW/Audi vehicles equipped with 01M/01N/01P transaxles may exhibit an intermittent torque-converter-slip code after overhaul (page 4).

Volkswagens equipped with the JF506E may experience repeated planetary failures from lack of lubrication. The problem normally occurs after rebuild (page 5).

Any VW model equipped with the JF506E, after rebuild, may exhibit a buzzing noise that sounds as if the unit is low on fluid (page 6).
