TCRA 2023 annual meeting in pictures

I’m not sure where all of the years went, but it was a quarter century ago that Corky and Carole Meyers turned an educational user group for their TCRS converter rebuilding equipment into an association of converter rebuilders: the Torque Converter Rebuilders Association (TCRA). The initial meetings of the association took place in Reno, NV where TCRS was headquartered.

There was, at that time, a growing number of transmission shops investing in the equipment and the training to build their torque converters in-house. The reversal of that trend results in today’s association representing an industry segment made up of converter rebuilders of all sizes and specialties.

Torque converter technology and the rebuilding of those units was the theme for the 25th annual Torque Converter Rebuilders Association seminars and convention. This year’s event, held in Charlotte, North Carolina, had a racing theme as the headquarters hotel faced the NASCAR Museum directly across the street.

Events included a welcoming reception, sponsored by core supplier WolfPack, a tour and lunch hosted by RevMax, and a reception held at the NASCAR Museum underwritten by Sonnax. The association’s executive director, Chris Horbach, said this was the largest attendance the group had seen in the quarter-century history of the annual conclave.

Have you encountered a crack in the worm tracks in your GM 8L45 and 8L90 valve bodies (as seen in Figure 1, above)?

Sonnax has, and wow, is it frustrating. Once cracked, there is no way to fix this. Obviously, the valve body is effectively a paper weight at this point. But is there a way to prevent this from happening? We think there is.
