ATSG Joins Training Lineup at AAPEX 2022

For the first time, attendees at AAPEX 2022 will have access to training by the Automatic Transmission Service Group (ATSG), an authority on transmission technical support and repair.

On Nov. 1, Wayne Colonna, ATSG President/ETE Reman Director of Quality, will present, “Is It the Transmission or Not?” The four-hour presentation will cover transmission malfunctions and perceived malfunctions caused by “out-of-the-box” system failures. The information will be presented in ATSG’s detailed Complaint, Cause and Correction format covering both passenger cars and medium duty trucks. Diagnostic tips and tricks will be included, as well as pertinent information on various CVT and DCT transmissions needed for proper diagnostics.

On Nov. 2, Rino Partipilo, ATSG Technical Advisor, will present the “Best of ATSG’s 2022 Confirmed Transmission Fixes,” a four-hour presentation on various vehicles experiencing problems originating from issues within the transmission and how to diagnose them. These transmissions were experiencing symptoms that stumped professional technicians, so they turned to ATSG’s technical hotline for assistance. Partipilo will share the most recently learned confirmed fixes that were gathered by being on the front line of the ATSG Technical Hotline.

Both presentations will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on their respective days in the new Transmission Supplier Section, Level 1, The Venetian Expo. Attendees already registered for AAPEX may add these training sessions by accessing their online registration portal. New registrations may select the ATSG training sessions when completing the registration process. The cost per session is $75.

In addition to training, the Transmission Supplier Section will be a dedicated space for the nearly 5,500 transmission shops in the United States. It will feature aftermarket parts for automatic and manual transmissions, transfer cases, parts and related components.

This story has been updated to reflect the new cost per session.

These provisions prohibit bypassing copyright protection systems. MEMA’s proposed exemption would allow consumers to view their vehicle’s telematics data and share that data with third-party repairers. The DOJ and FTC agreed with MEMA that providing consumers access to their vehicle’s telematics data would pose a minimal threat to copyright holders. They also agreed that this data could be accessed without increasing cybersecurity risks.

Sometimes, a diagnostic code is all you need

With ATSG having the opportunity to help shops solve problems, sometimes we get faced with some real doozies. A shop will call and give us a laundry list of DTCs, leaving us to think someone must have a bulkhead connector unplugged.
