Transtar’s Dave Hritsko explains why transmission rebuilders need to use another kind of additive, even though you may be tired of hearing about additives for this, that and the other. Dave says Transtar’s new aluminum additive, which was developed by scientists at Lubegard, could be a “game-changer” because ATF doesn’t contain any additives to protect aluminum. Today’s ATFs have many other additives to protect against metal contact with other ferrous metals, not aluminum. The biggest failure area on the transmission is the valve body, which is made of aluminum, so Lubegard developed this new additive to help reduce wear in this critical area.
