Issue Summary:

After overhaul or transmission exchange, Ford Motor Co. vehicles equipped with the 4R70W/4R70E/4R75E transmission may exhibit either no speedometer reading or a slow speedometer read-ing (below).

A Ford/Lincoln vehicle equipped with the 5R55W/S transmission may have no fill plug (page 3).

In 1996 and later Dodge/Chrysler vehicles with 41TE/42LE transmissions, a malfunctioning ignition switch may cause all the PRND3L lights to be illumi-nated in Park and Neutral (page 4).

Installation of a 4T60-E stator-support shaft in a 4T65-E will prevent TCC application (page 7).

February 2010 Issue

Issue Summary:

A Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep vehicle with a 45RFE transmission may exhibit a harsh torque-converter clutch application, or the engine may stall or stumble on a garage shift into Reverse or Drive (below).

Some Daimler/Chrysler vehicles equipped with the NAG1, 42RLE or CVT have no transmission dipstick for checking oil level (page 3).

After overhaul, a Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep vehicle with a 45RFE transmission may exhibit a complaint of no movement (page 4).

A 2003 Jeep Liberty with a 3.7-liter engine and 42RLE transmission developed an engine vibration after engine replacement (page 6).

January 2010 Issue

Issue Summary:

A 1999 Mercury Sable with a 3.0-liter engine and AX4N transmission has codes P0708 and P1702 stored and has shift-scheduling problems.

VW and Audi vehicles equipped with the 01M, 01N or 01P transaxles may exhibit a flare on the 3-4 upshift or a quick spin-up during the shift.

December 2009 Issue

Issue Summary:

The Toyota U240-E has numerous sleeves that are prone to wear, which can result in premature transmission failure (below).

Toyota vehicles equipped with U150-series five-speed transaxles may exhibit slipping upshifts and/or premature transmission failure (page 7).

November 2009 Issue

Issue Summary:

VW and Audi vehicles equipped with 01M, 01N or 01P transaxles may exhibit a partial or full engine stall during engagement into Drive or Reverse (below).

VW/Audi vehicles equipped with 01M/01N/01P transaxles may exhibit an intermittent torque-converter-slip code after overhaul (page 4).

Volkswagens equipped with the JF506E may experience repeated planetary failures from lack of lubrication. The problem normally occurs after rebuild (page 5).

Any VW model equipped with the JF506E, after rebuild, may exhibit a buzzing noise that sounds as if the unit is low on fluid (page 6).

Issue Summary:

A Ford truck equipped with a 5R110W transmission exhibits erratic shifts, intermittent operation of the transmission-fluid-temperature gauge and no Tow/Haul mode function.

A Ford Motor Co. vehicle with the 5R110W
TorqShift transmission has only 5th gear and reverse and displays DTC P0657 either before or after overhaul.

The speed-control deactivation switch in 1994-2002 Ford trucks and SUVs can cause an underhood fire by dripping brake fluid onto a nearby electrical connector that carries system voltage at all times.

August 2009 Issue

Issue Summary:

In a vehicle equipped with an Allison MT545, shifts are either too soft or too harsh, and the friction plates may be burned.

A vehicle with an Allison MT545 returns with a leak from the front of the transmission and a slight vibration at higher engine speeds.

Before or after overhaul, a GM vehicle equipped with an Allison 1000/2000 transmission may have no upshifts, and code P0708 is stored.

A GM vehicle equipped with an Allison 1000/2000 transmission neutralizes at highway speeds, and code P0735 is stored.

July 2009 Issue

Issue Summary:

A 2000-up Nissan vehicle with the RE4R01A or RE4F04A has a complaint of a slightly delayed 1-2 upshift and a quick over-speed or cut-loose on the 2-3 shift.

A Subaru vehicle with the 4-EAT-Phase II may exhibit a slight delayed forward engagement and will have no reverse. When the engine is shut off the vehicle lurches backward.

A Mitsubishi vehicle with the F4A51 transaxle has no forward movement when the headlamps are turned on.

Before or after overhaul, a Nissan/Infiniti with the RE5R05A may exhibit various upshift complaints.

June 2009 Issue

Issue Summary:

A 1995-2000 Hummer H1 enters the shop with an unexplained transmission-fluid loss, venting from the transfer case or transmission fluid contaminating the air filter.

1999-and-up Ford vehicles with the AX4S transaxle may exhibit a short delay followed by a bang when engaging any forward range.

Ford vehicles equipped with the AX4N/4F50N transaxle may exhibit a short delay followed by a bang when engaging any forward range.

After overhaul, Ford vehicles equipped with the AX4S, AX4N or 4F50N may exhibit a complaint of no third gear.

May 2009 Issue

Issue Summary:

A Honda vehicle equipped with a BAXA/B7XA-family transmission exhibits flared or slipping upshifts before or after overhaul.

A Mitsubishi or Hyundai vehicle with an F4A40/50-series transmission comes back after overhaul with the second-clutch plates burnt and code P0732 stored.

Before or after overhaul, the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) is illuminated on a Honda vehicle equipped with a BAXA/B7XA-family transmission and code P1705 is stored.

April 2009 Issue

Issue Summary:

A damaged bridge seal can result in pressure loss, causing a ZF 6HP26 in a 2002 BMW 745Li to be stuck in park.

After overhaul, a Honda vehicle with an MGHA-family transmission exhibits wrong-gear starts, and various solenoid DTCs may be stored.

Some 2002 Mazda MPVs can have harsh shifts with the MIL illuminated and/or the OD light flashing, and no DTCs stored.

Engine speed in a 2006 Honda Civic with a CVT sometimes stays around 4,000 rpm during deceleration as the vehicle is being driven straight ahead.
